From Scaffolding Board to a Vintage Floor

The family-run company Schollmayer Holz established in 1853 is one of the leading manufacturers of laminated scaffolding floors and toe boards. Our Loopwood brand brings scaffolding boards marked by years of service in wind and weather back home and then gives them a second lease on life. Our meticulous repurposing process ensures that each board maintains its very own unique character. The used wood for our floors is pre-cleaned by hand. Nails and other metal remnants are removed with a hammer and chisel. The surface then undergoes a multi-step process in which an array of brushes of different strengths is used to polish the surface. Soft wooden components are reduced in the process. The brushing hardens the wood and enhances its durability, much like a hardwood floor. But the natural structure of the used wood is preserved.

Vintage boards and parquet suit the widest range of furnishing styles: An urban, industrial flair is created by the high-contrast interplay of vintage wood with metal accents, concrete, brick walls and furniture with clear lines. Combined with warm earth tones and natural materials like linen, wool and leather, vintage boards create a modern-rustic atmosphere.
